Dyanne Thorne Bio

Dyanne Thorne was active as a band vocalist and New York stage actress. She was also popular as a comedic sketch artist/talking foil. Comedy albums with Allen & Rossi, Vaughn Meader and Loman & Barkley, earned her appearances on many T.V. variety shows, such as “The Tonight Show”, “Red Skelton”, “Steve Allen”, “Merv Griffin”, and with Tim Conway at Caesar’s Palace Hotel in Las Vegas.

Filmed in New York City, Ms. Thorne’s first major film role was in Norman Chaitin’s “Encounter”, which was also an early screen credit for Robert De Niro. Moving to Hollywood to appear on T.V.s “Star Trek”, and star as yet another villainess in Crown International’s “Point of Terror”, opened the door to several more movie roles.

In 1975, Dyanne married composer, conductor, musician and actor, Howard Maurer. Note: ( not to be confused with Howard Maurer of “The 3 Stooges” fame). She and her husband Howard have teamed as actors in five films, so far. Thorne/Maurer have co-produced and starred in several Las Vegas Strip
showroom productions. Their careers have taken them around the world.

As an actress, Dyanne Thorne is best known for her characterization of the heinous international dominatrix, solder of fortune, “The infamous Ilsa”, i.e.: “She Wolf”; “Oil Sheiks”; “Wicked Warden”; and “The Tigress of Siberia”.

As marriage officiants, (both are CHURCH ordained, non-denominational ministers) Dyanne and Howard created “A Scenic Outdoor Wedding” as an alternative to commercial chapel weddings. Couples world-wide come to Las Vegas to be married by “Ilsa”.

Howard Maurer Bio

Actor, musician, vocalist, writer and performer, Howard was born in New York. He has a BA, a Doctorate, and a PhD. At age 14 he began playing piano for parties, that led to him leading bands for weddings and conventions. After graduating from college, he partnered with his brother in a musical act that played all over the world, eventually winding up performing and living in Los Angeles and working in Las Vegas quite a bit.

In 1973 Howard met Dyanne Thorne in LA. Although they were traveling in different directions, they kept in constant contact with one another and saw each other whenever they were both in LA. In 1974, Dyanne was filming ILSA, SHE-WOLF OF THE SS, Howard visited her on set and got hired as an extra. By the time Dyanne filmed ILSA, THE TIGRESS OF SIBERIA, she and Howard had gotten married. Howard had also gotten his SAG card, an agent & a part in the film. He did several more films with Dyanne and a few films alone.

In 1975 they moved to Las Vegas where Dyanne was doing a show and Howard was hired to run the Aladdin Theater. They then co-starred in the hit show “Sex Over 40” which ran for several years, after which they wrote and directed their own show “Burlesque-a-Poppin”.

Howard and Dyanne have been married for over 40 years, when asked how they’re doing they say “It just gets better-n-better”.

HCF Interview with Howard & Dyanne

October 31st 2011, the British website Horror Cult Films (http://horrorcultfilms.co.uk/) published an exclusive interview with Dyanne and Howard. The interview, conducted by ‘Bat’, is reprinted below in its entirety:

HCF Interview with Dyanne Thorne

I read that you have worked on stage for a large part of your life, performing mostly in comedy. Do you still perform and what type of things are/were included in your shows?

DT: I performed up until two years ago. Now Howard and I appear at the film shows. If anyone reading this interview has a show in their area, they’re welcome to tell the producer that we’re available. We had not wanted to do film shows before but we started doing them two or three years ago and we’re really enjoying it. We’ve appeared in and out of the country – North, South, East, West – and it’s been wonderful to meet fans such as yourself. It really is heartwarming. As for going back on the stage, I’ve not had a big interest to do that. You’re absolutely right, the largest part of my performing life was in comedy. We produced many of our own shows. I’ve worked on a lot shows on stage as well as on Broadway in New York and Las Vegas. I came to Las Vegas for one week to replace someone else and they kept me for 11 months. They then hired me for three more shows. After that, I did a show that lasted 7 years followed by a show produced by my husband Howard and I. Following our own show, we were in another that lasted several years. It’s so amazing and humbling that people are enamored by low budget films that I did, that lasted for a minute and 100 years later they still have an interest. It’s just really amazing to me. Most of my life was spent working in comedy so I guess you could say working in films has been a fun contrast.
